Not Defined by Defeat!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). These are some of the final words of wisdom that Yeshua spoke to his followers before He ascended to heaven.
Recently, I preached a message in a Messianic congregation that I think will really encourage you. It did me!
Can we choose to worship God in the middle of life’s messiness and pain? Have you ever thought about how it’s only in this life that we get to share in the sufferings of Yeshua like the Apostle Peter spoke about?
Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. (1 Peter 4:13)
No matter what, though—remember the end of Yeshua’s statement above—take heart! He has overcome the world. Praise God! We are not defined by the defeats we have in this life. God says we are defined by what Yeshua did for us at the cross because of His boundless love for you and me.
Enjoy the message!
Yes I agree with you, this is also in agreement with the words of Jesus in Matthew 10.18.
