Saturday morning, Israelis woke up to news that Hamas had fired 220 missiles at Israel. It would not end for 40 hours, with a total of 700 rockets fired at Israel. This was unexpected. However, anti-Israel terrorist sympathizer and congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who is one of two female Muslim congresswomen, was quick to blame Israel for causing Hamas to bomb civilians.
She took issue with the NY Times headline that read, “Gaza militants fire 250 rockets, Israel responds with airstrikes.” She then retweeted that Israel “shot dozens of unarmed Palestinian protestors in Gaza on Friday and killed 4 Palestinians, including two protesters, in Gaza before any projectiles were launched.”
Pot calls Kettle Black
The audacity of Rep. Tlaib has no limits. In this tweet, where she decries misleading headlines (even though the headline was not at all misleading!), she spreads her own misleading lies. What she doesn’t tell you is that a Hamas sniper shot two Israeli soldiers on the border. The IDF was responding to that aggression, defending the soldiers!
When will the world stop dehumanizing our Palestinian people who just want to be free? Headlines like this & framing it in this way just feeds into the continued lack of responsibility on Israel who unjustly oppress & target Palestinian children and families. #FreePalestine https://t.co/p3X3j8WtwM — Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) May 5, 2019
Defending Terror—Ilhan Omar
Then her close friend, Rep. Ilhan Omar, a prolific tweeter and critic of Jews everywhere, who had somehow gone silent during the onslaught against the Israel, finally found her fingers on Sunday. Feeling the pressure, she carefully crafted a tweet that did not call out Hamas as terrorists and put the blame on Israel for being unjust. Rep. Liz Cheney was quick to call her out, asking, “Real question is how many times will @IlhanMN (Rep. Ilhan Omar) rush to the defense of terrorists?”
1. Hamas controls Gaza. 2. Hamas is firing rockets at civilians in Israel. 3. @IlhanMN is defending Hamas. Real question is how many times will @IlhanMN rush to the defense of terrorists? https://t.co/mrKQBz1TDa — Liz Cheney (@Liz_Cheney) May 5, 2019
Rep. Omar blames the Israel occupation of Gaza, but somehow she doesn’t know that Israel left Gaza in 2005, Then, the Palestinians voted in Hamas to lead them. Gaza could be flourishing but for their terrorist overlords.
Ilhan Omar recently came under fire for describing 9/11 as, “some people did something,” and blamed America for the problems in Venezuela.
Where are the Democratic Nominees?
Even more stunning was the silence from every single Democrat running for president. Israel is the best friend of the US. Certainly, she is America’s greatest ally in the Middle East. And, yet, not one Democrat had the courage to send out some love to the Jewish nation as bombs are falling.
The Jerusalem Post reports:
With the 2020 US Presidential elections at stake, not many American politicians made their comments on the latest Israeli-Gaza conflict.
Only a single Democratic presidential candidate tweeted about the situation, and even that was not in favor of Israel. Former senator (D-AK) Mike Gravel tweeted “Long live Palestine!” And that is where the list ends.
Just imagine that, a U.S. President wishing for the destruction of Israel. To be clear, for many, the phrase, “Long live Palestine!” means: Destroy Israel and replace it with Palestine.
One of the only Democrats with the courage to acknowledge Israel’s terror reality was the new senator from Arizona, Kyrsten Sinema, who said, “I condemn the rocket attacks on innocent civilians and stand in support of Israel and peace.”

(UPDATE: NJ Senator Cory Booker and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper both issued pro-Israel statements…so that is two out of twenty-one…nothing from Joe Biden, nothing from Bernie Sanders.)
The New Democrats
The new voices in the Democratic Party like two mentioned above and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, are loud and are not intimidated by the old guard. They see Israel as an oppressor (surrounded by over 20 Muslim nations!) and see the actions of Hamas as desperate attempts to be free—like the Jews who rose up against the Germans in the Warsaw Ghetto.
Let’s go back to Rashida Tlaib’s tweet: “When will the world stop dehumanizing our Palestinian people who just want to be free?”
She justifies Hamas’ reign of terror saying, they “just want to be free.” These are the same congresswomen who will not condemn Venezuela’s murdering dictator. They hate those who are successful, and blame all suffering on the wealthy. These are the roots of communism. Combine that with some good, old-fashioned, Islamic anti-Semitism, and you get Palestinian Liberation Theology, a deadly philosophy that justifies terrorism. Yes, we expect that in the Middle East, in Iran or Syria—we just didn’t think it would show up in the United States House of Representatives.
