Warfare in the White House—Pray for President Trump

Day 5 - Israel/Iran War

The US president has significant global influence. In addition to economic power, he becomes the commander-in-chief of the most deadly force and arsenal the world has ever known. If you believe in spiritual warfare, then obviously, there is a spiritual battle that is ongoing regarding the president’s decisions—no matter who holds the position. And right now, it is crucial because Trump’s world is splitting.

The president is in a very difficult situation. I do not believe that Israel’s actions caught him by surprise. He gave Iran 60 days to negotiate. It just so happened that on the 60th day, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) issued a damning resolution against Iran stating, “The rapid accumulation of highly enriched uranium by Iran, [could] only” be used to create a nuclear weapon. Trump would prefer a diplomatic solution, but he knows that reality is reality.

“In recent months, intelligence has revealed that Iran is nearing a critical nuclear threshold. Over the past six months, Iran has sharply escalated production of fissile material, generating about one bomb’s worth of 60% highly enriched uranium each month at its Fordow facility. The 60 percent enriched uranium can be quickly refined to the 90 percent threshold required for nuclear weapons.

“According to IAEA data, Iran already possesses enough highly enriched uranium for 10 nuclear weapons. The IDF has assessed that Iran could build up to 15 bombs. Its growing stockpile, combined with fortified and dispersed underground enrichment facilities, puts the regime closer than ever to producing weapons-grade material.”

G7 Stand with Israel, against Iran

And I believe Trump sees the need to get rid of the present leadership in Iran and has stated that the Islamic rogue state can never be allowed to create a nuclear weapon. Yesterday, he signed a document with other G7 leaders that stated, “Iran is the principal source of regional instability and terror. We have been consistently clear that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.” It added, “we affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel.”

Anti-Semites with a Following

However, a significant part of his base represented by people like Tucker Carlson, (who accused Israel “killing Christians,” in Gaza—of which there are less than 1,000), Candace Owens (who said Judiasm was “pedophile-centric religion that believes in … child sacrifice,”) and Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA), who once blamed California forest fires on Jewish conspiracy theories, are giving him significant pushback. That, in addition to former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. I’ve often said that the far left and the far right will eventually meet and agree that they’re both anti-Semitic. What else could explain the fact that Rashida Talib (D-MI) has the same position as Candace Owens?

On the other side, you have voices like Sean Hannity and Mark Levin, who recognize that Iran is an existential threat, not only to Israel, but possibly to other nations as well. These conservative media personalities have been skeptical of diplomatic solutions with Iran and have expressed support for Israel taking military action. Franklin Graham tweeted his support for Israel in keeping Iran from going nuclear.

While President Trump is probably not concerned about the feelings of Rashida Tlaib or the anti-semitic far left, he is concerned about those who follow Carlson and Hannity, who were once colleagues at Fox News between 8 PM and 10 PM. He has spoken critically about Carlson, but not any of the pro-Israel voices in MAGA-world. “Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” wrote Trump.

American Intervention is Good for the World

I’m not suggesting that Carlson or Taylor-Green are supporters of the Ayatollahs in Iran. They simply don’t think it is America’s responsibility to intervene. A common sentiment expressed on social media is: "Let Israel manage its own conflict," or “America doesn’t need to get involved in other nations’ affairs.” Of course, that may sound appealing, but it is deeply shortsighted:

• If America had not entered World War II, Hitler might have won.

• If America hadn’t won the Cold War, the Soviet Union might have taken over Europe.

• If America had not stood with Ukraine over the past few years, Putin might be in Moldova, Georgia, and Romania—or Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

Consider the words of Israeli-American Haviv Rettig Gur, writer for the Times of Israel.

“Westerners who look out at the world and think that whatever … kind of safety you have in America, Canada, Britain, Australia, is the safety that all in the world experience, just don't understand that the reason that English speakers in this world are safe—the reason that Westerners in this world are safe—is because of American power. After World War II, America built a new world order in its image that has been the safest, most prosperous, [and] happiest world order in the history of the world.”

Of course, I see God in that equation. America has been the primary supporter of world missions and the nation of Israel, and these are key reasons that America is blessed to the degree that it is.

So, both on a practical and spiritual level, America supporting Israel in this moment is important. For instance, only America has a non-nuclear bomb that could take out Iran’s underground nuclear program. Two years ago, the US Air Force posted pictures of the GBU-57, the “Massive Ordnance Penetrator.”

Walking on a Tightrope

If you listen carefully to President Trump’s comments, he’s walking a tightrope. On the one hand, he has expressed support for Israel to defend itself, noting that Iran had plenty of time to come to the negotiating table, but on the other hand, he seems to be pushing for a diplomatic solution (which everyone would prefer if it were possible [1]). Any deal that leaves Iran’s nuclear ambitions intact is not acceptable to the state of Israel (or to Trump and the G7 leaders). Trump has been very clear that the US has not been involved (which is technically impossible), while expressing strong support for Israel. It is believed that the US’s planned meeting with Iranian officials scheduled for last Sunday “was a device to lure Tehran into a false sense of security, softening it up for Israel’s latest lethal attack.” Much of the media was reporting tension in the relationship between Trump and Netanyahu. Was that part of the ruse?

Secretary of State Marco Rubio was quick to share that Israel acted unilaterally and the US was not involved—seemingly sending a signal to Israel that we were on our own. But Bari Weiss of The Free Press said, “He’s sort of playing both sides of it. Every day, every hour, there is a different Truth Social comment that indicates…he wants the war to end, he wants a deal…[and then] ‘Iran, cannot have nuclear weapons.’” By the morning after Rubio’s chilling comment, Weiss continues, “when there was so much success—nothing succeeds like success—Trump was … all in, claiming credit.” Trump is brilliant at appeasing both sides of an issue by simply stating what both sides want to hear—but the question is, where is his heart on the issue?

The Isolationist Position is often Antisemitic

The isolationist stance was promoted by anti-Israel presidential candidate Pat Buchanan back in the 80s. It was firmly rejected by Reagan, who was an interventionist and internationalist. Reagan saw the need to win the Cold War and destroy the Soviet Empire, and its ambitions to spread communism around the world. The long wars in Iraq and Afghanistan turned many over time in the Republican Party against the internationalist position. However, like Buchanan, many on the isolationist side, like Owens and Carlson, have disdain for the state of Israel.

Prayer is Power

Because we believe that these battles are spiritual, as well as physical, we must pray for the US president to have the wisdom and courage to stand with Israel. As an Israeli, I have been willing to criticize Israel’s politicians when I felt it was needed (shocking some of my readers). I do not believe that Israeli political leaders are incapable of doing wrong. On September 8, 2023, I heard the words in my spirit, “Israel is already under judgment.” I shared that on Sunday morning with several thousand people, asking them to pray. They thought I was nuts. Why is an Israeli Messianic Jew saying that God is judging Israel? If I’m honest, I felt nuts—and like a traitor. However, a month later, October 7 happened.

However, in this situation, with 84% of the Israeli Jewish population and 70% of the whole population (including Arabs [Muslims]) supporting our military, our cause is justified. As stated yesterday, the Iranian regime is connected to the killing of nearly a million Muslims in Syria and Yemen. They have sponsored embassy bombings, assassinations, and many of their own citizens frequently disappear—ones who question the legitimacy of their dictators. The Western world is united chiefly, and privately, quite frankly, so is the Arab world—Iran cannot get nukes.

Let’s pray for Trump, that he makes a wise decision based on Scripture and that those advisors who are concerned about God’s will have favor with him. There’s no question that Trump is leaning far in favor of Israel. Let’s pray that position becomes even stronger.

UPDATE:

Before we could send this, the Times of Israel is reporting that Trump is seeking a military victory, not a negotiated settlement:

"US President Donald Trump said Monday that the US is ‘not looking for a ceasefire,’ but rather a ‘real end’ to the conflict over Iran’s nuclear program, and that, after two months of talks in which Iran refused to dismantle its program, he is ‘not in the mood to negotiate.’ … Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it’s very simple,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One during his overnight flight back to Washington. 'They should have done the deal. I told them, do the deal,’ he said. 'So I don’t know. I’m not too much in the mood to negotiate.’”

This clear statement is no doubt in light of the fact that Israel is achieving all of its military goals, and Iran's leadership is on the run.

[1] Patriot & THAAD batteries from U.S. bases in the Middle East have intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles and drones aimed at Israel. U.S. Navy destroyers, like the USS Thomas Hudner and other vessels, have shot down incoming Iranian missiles in the eastern Mediterranean. U.S. fighter jets and tanker aircraft have been dispatched to support Israel's air defenses. The USS NimitzUSS Carl Vinson, and USS George Washington carrier strike groups have been rerouted closer to Israel, increasing U.S. naval presence in the Mediterranean and Arabian Sea. U.S. forces in the region have increased to roughly 40,000–43,000 personnel, bolstered by air defenses, ships, and fighter jets.

In summary, the U.S. support for Israel has been almost entirely defensive—intercepting missiles, reinforcing air defense and naval presence, and providing logistical support. Despite publicly denying offensive involvement, leaked reports suggest behind-the-scenes coordination and strategic communication with Israeli military planners.
